Family Services Program

The Family Services Program provides assistance to individuals or families experiencing economic hardships.

The Family Services Programs include:

  • Food Pantry — distributes non-perishable food
  • Housing — one month rental assistance when funding is available
  • Thrift Shop — Open Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 12:00nn and 1:30pm to 3:00pm (Closed during lunch and on Legal Holidays), open on some Saturdays.

Victim Advocacy Program

The Victim Advocacy Program provides advocacy and support for victims of crime through crisis counseling, case management, court accompaniment, information and referral, and assistance with the filing of a temporary restraining order (TRO) towards an Order of Protection.

Victim Hotline

The Victim Hotline is a 24 hour crisis line for victims of crime, especially victims of domestic and sexual violence.

Callers are given information on violence and the dynamics of abusive relationships. Callers may also be referred for other services.

The Victim Hotline is an anonymous and confidential service for victims on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota.

Services for Victims of Human Trafficking

Through this program, we provide a wide range of services to address the individualized needs of human trafficking victims from diverse backgrounds. Services include: case management, shelter/housing, food, medical, and dental care, mental health treatment, support groups, translation services, immigration and other legal assistance, literacy education, job skills training, and more.

Guma’ Esperansa

Guma Esperansa means “House of Hope” is the only shelter in the CNMI for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. Founded in 2001, Guma Esperansa provides sanctuary, counseling, and advocacy for victims and their children. All shelter services are free and confidential and are available regardless of citizenship, ethnicity, gender identity or immigration status.

Catholic Charities U.S.A. Disaster Services

In the aftermath of a disaster, Karidat provides food, water, and personal hygiene products, as well as deeper assessment of personal needs. We work with our community partners to connect disaster victims with the resources they need to recover. Karidat works with Catholic Charities USA and our partners in the CNMI and National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) networks.

GETHOPE- Transitional Housing Program

This program is meant to assist survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence and stalking to gain economic stability and achieve their personal goals. We meet these goals by providing a variety of practical and emotional support and housing assistance.
